It Started With Two Newlyweds
We were 23 and 21, fresh out of college, newly married and filled with a dream. While most newlyweds were settling into their first home, we moved into a small assisted living community in Port Charlotte.
For the first three-and-a-half years of our marriage, Chelsea Place was not only where we worked. It was where we lived.

We Became Caregivers
Living inside the assisted living meant experiencing the true 24/7 nature of caregiving. There were many seasons when Chelsea and I were the caregivers around the clock.
We lived the sleepless nights, emergencies, difficult decisions, small victories and heartbreaking goodbyes. Caregiving did not stop because we were tired. It did not end at five o’clock.

Dottie reminded us that age is just a number. With connection, engagement and purpose, people can surprise us—and begin to live their best lives!

Families Need Care, Too
After living the caregiver experience ourselves, we understood why spouses and adult children felt overwhelmed. Senior care was confusing, fragmented and often introduced only after a crisis.
Families did not need another sales brochure. They needed a roadmap.
The Senior Care Conference
What began as a guide grew into Senior Source and a community-wide movement to make senior care easier to understand.
Families, caregivers, professionals and community resources came together under one roof with one purpose: helping people find answers before they felt alone.

We Found the Missing Piece
Families often believed they had only two choices: manage everything alone at home or move someone into residential care.
Adult day offered another path—one that supported the caregiver while giving their loved one joy, connection, structure, purpose, activity and a reason to laugh and smile again.

Home care became the next extension of the mission—supporting seniors where they wanted to be the most: home.
Together, adult day and home care gave families more choices, more flexibility and more time together.

My wife, Chelsea and I founded Chelsea Place Assisted Living in 2011 and “Yes!” I named it after her. We were fresh out of college and barely old enough to have an adult beverage. I was 23 and Chelsea was 21. Before Chelsea Place, I made a brief attempt to pursue a career in the financial services industry, however, it was short-lived, unfulfilling and quite boring to be honest. (No offense to my finance friends! lol)
Chelsea and I opened Chelsea Place “Retirement Resort Living,” an assisted living community located in Port Charlotte, FL in 2011. We decorated it in coastal colors and made it feel like a cute little cottage from the Florida Keys!
One thing you may not know is that when we returned from our honeymoon, we actually moved into our assisted living facility. We lived there for the first 3.5 years of our marriage.
In fact, we were the youngest newlyweds to own, operate and live in assisted living. Our residents were our family! Chelsea learned how to crochet, I learned how to cook and together we made it work.
Fast forward to today that passion has not gone away. It has grown so big that I’m not just passionate about what we do, I’m obsessed with it! Together and with an amazing team, we are changing the future of senior care!!
Since our humble beginning in senior living, we expanded our services to offer adult day and in home care. In 2021, we had that epiphany moment that "Adult Day is the Future of Senior Care!"
Therefore, we sold our assisted living community and decided to go "all-in" on adult day. We rebranded from Chelsea Place to ActivAge and today are on a mission to help 10 million seniors find joy, happiness and a renewed sense of purpose!
Since the newlywed days, Chelsea and I have been blessed with two beautiful children, Emily (Future COO) and Liam (Future CEO), who brighten our whole world. Chelsea is an incredibly gifted photographer and has continued to pursue her love for photography.
In our spare time :) we enjoy flying, riding motorcycles, diving beautiful reefs and hanging out at the beach.
As of today, ActivAge has two company owned locations, one in Port Charlotte and the other in Sarasota, FL. Our global vision is to expand to 500 locations worldwide through ActivAge Franchising and transform the lives of 10 million seniors!! When God gives you a vision...Go!
